Old Stoney The project consists of the first phase of renovations to the existing historic Old Stoney building (on the National Register of Historic Places) in the downtown. The project included a below grade sub-basement excavation and renovations with shoring to accommodate an interior elevator for ADA accessibility, thermal/energy efficiency, fire protection system, historic precast concrete replica replacements, sub-basement egress stair, reconstruction of the historic fire escape, and historic window replacement - to accommodate the building’s new use as the Crook County Museum and rental office spaces. Prior to the building project, a separate study and cost estimate of the existing facility was conducted in order to gain funding approval from the Wyoming Business Council. The project included three separate stakeholders: The City of Sundance, who owns the building; the Wyoming Business Council, who funded the project; and the Crook County Museum District Board, who operates the facility. The project was designed to comply with the requirements of all three entities and with the Wyoming State Historic Preservation Office’s requirements as well as the Wyoming State Fire Marshal’s office for building code compliance and life safety.
